Welcome to Investing Bestie!

"I want to start investing, but I'm not sure where to begin."

Two cups of coffee in yellow and blue cups

My name is Sarah and I am not a financial planner. But I am a smart gal that loves to handle my own investments and is passionate about helping others do the same. So I built a website for anyone who says they want to start investing but aren't sure where to begin.

A Bit About Me

I work in healthcare as an advanced practitioner and love my job. When I'm not learning about investing or teaching myself how to build a website, I love to swim, garden, and take care of my three dogs, two turtles, and one lovebird.

The Journey

So how did this self-proclaimed science nerd learn about investing and become passionate about it? A daily long commute to work. It began when I found some investment and personal finance podcasts to listen to on my commute because, hey, those massive student loans weren't going to pay themselves off. Then I got hooked. I knew how to invest for retirement, but I was fascinated by the Financial Independence Retire Early (FIRE) community and the amazing feats of saving and investing they were achieving.

Episodes about withdrawal strategies and figuring out if you are on track for retirement showed me that retirement planning was more than an abstract aimless goal of accumulating extraordinary amounts of money and hoping it was enough. I loved hearing about strategies to reduce risk and optimize taxes. I branched out to other resources, gathering different strategies and advice.

Wanting to change the financial conversation from budgeting to wealth building, I started talking to friends about investing, and through those conversations, I realized that a lot of people want to invest, but don't know where to start. Even if they begin, they may not know their goal or if they are on track.

So I decided to build a website, focusing on investment education. I wanted to create a resource for anyone who isn't sure where to start and give them the tools like calculators to start investing with a clear goal in mind.

This website includes general investment information for a broad audience. That means you should treat the website like an intense, informative conversation over coffee with your bestie, not a financial planning conversation with a professional. This website gives you a starting point, but you should also do your own research and consult with the appropriate financial, law, and tax professionals that will have more insight into your personal situation.

The goal of Investing Bestie is to make investing accessible to anyone. That is why there is no registration or membership fee required to learn how to invest. I include ads and affiliate links to help pay for the website so that it can be free for everyone. The affiliate links are only for products that I would consider using myself.

The Investing Bestie Blog

While designing the website, I wanted to provide a free investing course with a clear beginning and end so you won't get overwhelmed or distracted. In this blog, I will continue to add supplemental information related to investing and finance. I'll compare different financial products or deep dive into a specific topic that may not have been covered in the initial investing course. I hope you find the additional information helpful on your investing and personal finance journey.

Please consider joining the mailing list to receive news and updates about the website and share the website with anyone you think might benefit from the knowledge. There are many websites about finance out there, so I thank you for taking the time to visit mine!
